Happy Thanksgiving! – MommySync

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have a lot to be thankful for this year, but it is often easy to forget our blessings. I’ve spent much of the last two years wishing my house was bigger or my backyard cooler, but this year I’m simply thankful to have a home.

Learning of the Californians who lost their homes in the wildfires has changed my perspective on the value of my house. I am far more thankful for these walls, windows, and shabby grass. I am thankful for the floors covered in toys and table laden with crumbs. In addition to the fires, the Borderline Shooting has made me value being a stay-at-home mom more than ever. My rough days don’t compare to the fear parents experience when releasing their children into the world. I get to have all of my babies at home with me.

This house that needs remodeling. This house that has never seemed large enough for our boisterous family. This house that allows me to contain everything that I love in one place. A home takes on a new meaning when you realize its extraordinary purpose. It is not only a safe haven for loved ones but, also, a physical manifestation of our memories. Each mark is an experience, each broken item a story.

I encourage you this Thanksgiving to remember the value of what you already have, instead of wishing for something different, something better. We are alive. What greater gift is there than that?
